When I was in B&N I grabbed this book and read your section. Similar read in this article. How did you assess the risk of giving the author $100k. Figure that a full day’s volatility in the market is ~2%/day, so the most damage he could do is $2-4k?, so no sweat for you?

    Hello to all,

While I do know a fair amount about stock trading (mostly using IBD and CANSLIM), I know absolutely nothing about daytrading which is completely different. I have oftern though about trying it out, but am hesitant because of all the horror stories out there about how people lose all their money. My question to anybody/everybody is how are people like Matt (in the Joel Stein article) successful at day trading while others are not? Why is the learning curve so steep that the majority of people don’t make it? There must be something drastically different about the way Matt approaches trading which makes him and others successful while the vast majority fail. Lastly, can anyone recommend a quality firm in Los Angeles? Thanks in advance!
